Kharkiv is a city of contrasts.
On Marshal Bazhanov Street, two buildings stand side by side.
Alexander Leibfreid suggested that both were designed by architect M. E. Roitenberg.
There is also information indicating that these rental houses were built for L. Rosenfeld and Kh. Long in 1913.
However, while building No. 6 has recently undergone façade restoration, building No. 8 has been abandoned for many years — its roof has collapsed, and through the empty window openings, one can see the sky.
Previously, the property’s balance holder was the now-defunct Kyiv Bank, which closed in 2015.
For nearly five years, no final decision has been made regarding the fate of this emergency building. In autumn 2013, Kharkiv officials were preparing to approve its demolition after several inspections, but the dismantling work never began.
