A 1913 Building Restored in Kharkiv

A historic 1913 building in Kharkiv has been carefully restored, demonstrating how preservation of heritage can align with sustainable commercial development.

Speaking on the air of Radio Nakypilo, Taras Doronin, Alter Development CEO, said that their work is focused on the revitalisation and restoration of historic buildings.
The Lazar Rosenfeld House, purchased at an open auction held by the Deposit Guarantee Fund, was entrusted by investors to this development company for the design and implementation of a restoration project.

Commenting on the results of the restoration, Taras Doronin emphasised that their work is an example of how commercial business can recognise the value of preserving historical heritage.

“A huge number of cases across Europe prove that restoring historic buildings can be a profitable business. In Ukraine, this field is almost undeveloped, so we have successfully occupied this niche,” Doronin noted.

Although restoration is always more complex than new construction, it offers far greater social and aesthetic returns. The team deliberately focused on preserving authenticity so that the project would not turn into a typical modern development.
