Yakovlev Printing House

The large brick building located at 10/2 Honcharivska Street is a good example of late-19th-century industrial architecture in Kharkiv.
According to the 1909 register of property owners, the courtyard site at the intersection of Honcharivskyi Boulevard and Velyka Honcharivska Street belonged to the company “S. P. Yakovlev Printing House.”

During the revolutionary years (1917–1919), the printing house suffered significant damage: most of its equipment was looted and destroyed. Restoration of the complex began in the early 1920s. It became home to Transdruk Printing House No. 4 (after 1946 — under the Ministry of Railways), which continued to supply the railway sector with specialised printed materials.

After Printing House No. 4 of the Ministry of Railways left the Transzheldorizdat association, it was renamed Printing House No. 17. Later, following another reorganisation (approximately in the 1970s), it became Printing House No. 2 and continued operating until the late 2000s. Parts of the premises were also rented out, but by the 2010s most of the complex had fallen into disuse and neglect.

The revival of the building began in 2021, when Alter Development initiated the revitalisation and restoration of the former printing house complex. Within a few months, the DRUK Cultural and Community Centre was established there.
